Bayshore Hotel, Sandown
Isle of Wight
At a glance
Bayshore Hotel occupies a seafront position on Pier Street in Sandown, opposite the town’s sandy beach and traditional pier. The high street is also close by, giving the hotel a practical base for seaside breaks, shopping and exploring the wider Isle of Wight.
The hotel has 76 bedrooms, with many rooms offering views towards the coast. Standard in-room facilities include tea and coffee-making equipment, a hairdryer and a Freeview television with radio channels. Ironing facilities are available through reception. Sea-view room upgrades provide a way to make more of the hotel’s coastal setting.
Dining takes place in a ground-floor restaurant with space for up to 150 people. Breakfast is table served and includes a cooked full English alongside continental choices such as fruit, cereals and yoghurt. Evening meals follow a three-course format, with British classics and vegetarian and vegan choices. Tea and coffee are served at the end of dinner. Dinner sittings are allocated for the length of a stay, although changes can be discussed with the restaurant team.
The kitchen can accommodate most dietary requirements when these are provided at the time of booking. This makes the hotel suitable for guests who prefer meals arranged as part of their stay rather than dining independently for every occasion. The restaurant’s size also gives the hotel capacity for larger parties and organised group visits.
Sandown offers a traditional resort setting, with a long beach, seafront walks and the pier directly across from the hotel. The beach is suitable for bathing, water sports and boating, while the surrounding landscape includes downs, countryside and coastal paths. Nearby attractions include the Roman Villa at Brading and the Isle of Wight’s big cat sanctuary. Seasonal markets add to the town’s shops, cafés and restaurants.
Accessibility is supported by a lift serving most rooms, although the floors are split level. On-street parking in the area is chargeable, making the hotel more suited to planning parking arrangements in advance. Bayshore Hotel combines a straightforward seaside base with table-served dining, coastal views and convenient access to Sandown’s main resort facilities.
