Cycling on the Isle of Wight

Isle of Wight Cycle Routes

With a range of cycle routes to suit all abilities, whilst being surrounded by miles of beautiful countryside and coastline, the Isle of Wight is a very popular destination for cycling holidays. There are several cycling events throughout the year, or you can of course simply follow a route at your own pace whenever you like!

Isle of Wight Cycling Events

An annual event for all of you keen cyclists out there, is the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival, an 8 day festival which takes place in September each year. This includes Cycle the Wight, a 50 or 70 mile cycle ride around the island. However, there are also plenty of other activities planned throughout the week, such as the Hills Killer challenge.

In May each year, there is the Wayfarer Cycletouring Club Randonnee. This cycling event tours the island with a choice of routes, offering free entry. You can register on the day, but it may be best to go directly to their website to pre-register and avoid the queues!

New for May 2012, is the Cycle Wight 2012 weekend. This is a weekend packed full of various cycling events, in different locations for different abilities... including family bike rides on our beautiful Isle of Wight.

Finally, in support of the Isle of Wight's Earl Mountbatten Hospice, there is the challenging End to End and Back Again. This is an off-road, 46 km event, with the option of cycling the return leg to make it 92 km in total!
